Access for elderly / disabled / wheelchair users – 4 steps up to apartment front door area. One step up from path. Entire apartment on one level. Therefore suitable for elderly people with no walking problems and possibly for disabled or narrow wheelchair users if steps can be negotiated.
Beach towels not included.
The owner does not have a barbeque although there is a garden where one could be used. You could buy a small disposable tin tray type barbeque or manual coal type barbeque on legs (less than 20 euro) if necessary.

DESCRIPTION OF THE LOCAL AREA

La Horizonte / Playa Flamenca, in the area of Orihuela Costa, is less than a 10 minutes drive south of Torrevieja. It has a very multi-cultural feel as many people from other countries now live in this area and actually outnumber the Spaniards! This area is a favourite for British and Irish ex-pats. Consequently, the shops, bars and restaurants in this area originate from many nationalities to provide food to suit all tastes - from the native Spanish to Italian, French, German, Chinese, Indian, Korean, Scandinavian, Argentinean, Hungarian, Mexican cuisine, etc.

There are a number of bars and restaurants adjacent to the complex in two small commercial centres.

Less than 5 minutes walk from 2 new commercial centres currently under construction (February 2007) which will contain a range of bars and restaurants.

500 metres to the cliffs by Lidl or Carrefour. Less than 1 km to the beach at Punta Prima or 1.5 km to the beach at Playa Flamenca. The EU Blue Flag beaches at Playa Flamenca and La Zenia have vast expanses of golden sands and there are jet-ski's, a banana boat and pedalo's in the summer months, as well as the usual "bars on the beach".

700 metres to the well known Flamenca Beach Commercial centre (largest in South Costa Blanca) with the Lansdowne bar, Rosie O'Grady's, the Blues Brothers, Divas Indian restaurant, Spud Murphies and 3 floors of bars and restaurants. Adjacent to that centre is the new Supercor supermarket - the "Harrods" food hall of Spain - banks, etc. Nearby are the Mercadona, Lidl and Carrefour supermarkets (Playa de Orihuela); smaller version of the hypermarket in Torrevieja. Nearby go-kart track for all ages (3 circuits).

Less than 5 minutes walk from 2 other new commercial centres with a range of bars and restaurants.

Within 15 minutes walk of the Celtic Isle Irish entertainment centre with own swimming pool, bars and restaurant and also the popular Saturday morning market.

15 minutes walk from the renowned Irish pub the Abbey Tavern (www.theabbeytavern.com), which normally stays open until 3 or 4 in the morning most of the year and has nightly entertainment, beer garden, large tv, pool, darts, internet computers and children's play area, and other facilities in the La Florida commercial area (supermarket, bars, Chinese and other restaurants, bank, car hire, hairdressers, etc).

20 minutes walk from Via Park 1, Via Park 2, Via Park 3 commercial centres.

10 minutes drive, or 7 km to Torrevieja town centre, marina, harbour, Carrefour, Habernas shopping centre (H&M, C&A, Zara, etc), McDonalds, ten pin bowling, casino, etc.

Nearby bus service into Torrevieja town or various taxi ranks throughout the area.

Bus service between urbanisations and the beach. Only around 1 euro per person getting on or off anywhere on the route. Ideal if you don't want to drive on holiday.

It is only a 10 minutes drive to golf courses of Villamartin, Campoamor and Las Ramblas.

Sports: Golf, cycling, diving, fishing, horse riding, paragliding, roller blading, sailing, surfing, swimming, tennis, walking, water skiing, wind-surfing, ten-pin bowling, jet ski, scuba diving, aqua park, sports complex, go-karting.
